Sporting Ennistymon Vs Burren United - U15 Shield Quarter Final

Sporting Ennistymon U15s edged Burren Utd 2-1 in a thrilling quarter final on Saturday Aug 24th in Lahinch. The first half saw both team’s creating lots of chances, keeping both keepers busy with Sporting’s Andrew Skerritt having to make some great saves to keep it goalless at the break.

Second half started much the same as the first half ended with both teams trying to break the dead lock. A good passing sequence involving Ciaran Harrington , Gavin Burke and Joe Campbell, who put through Dylan Heneghan to finish from just inside the 18 yard line to put Sporting up 1-0. But great credit to the Burren lads, they fought back and won a penalty which was duly dispatched by Cian Burke to make it 1-1. With about 10 minutes to go, Sporting’s Daithi Fitzgerald got a superb winner. His shot from 25 yards out hit the back of the net to put Sporting up 2-1. Sporting had their backs to the wall for the remainder of the game and held on to win which sees them through to the shield semi-final.
