What is Split the Pot ?

A 50:50 lottery or Split the Pot fundraiser has been established to raise much-needed funds for our club.

The alternative to not undertaking fundraising activities is to increase player membership heavily, but doing so would be against our club’s values. Sporting’s overheads, such as rental of training facilities, equipment, insurance etc., require thousands of euros to be generated yearly. It hasn’t been made any easier with recent price inflation.

Below, we’ll examine what Split the Pot is, why to enter the fundraiser, when the draws take place, and where the draws take place.

WHAT IS SPLIT THE POT?

Split the Pot is a fundraiser used by different not-for-profit organizations to raise much-needed funds. The fundraiser requires entrants to buy tickets at €2 per entry. The monies collected are then split evenly between a single successful entrant and the club. Hence the name Split the Pot.

More than one entry can be purchased per person if desired. Each entry costs €2. Draws will be completed throughout the year. The draw is to take place once a fortnight. The more entries into the fundraiser, the bigger the prize. For example, 200 entries would result in a €200 prize for the lucky winner. The other €200 would go to the club. The club’s half will be used to pay for equipment, pitch rental, insurance premiums etc.

The draw is to be conducted on Sundays (may be subject to change depending on bank holiday weekends etc.) and will be videoed and published on the Sporting Ennistymon F.C social media channels (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter).

Online entries can be purchased from anywhere in the world. Sporting Ennistymon F.C uses an Irish-based company, ClubForce, to process online payments.

WHY ENTER THIS FUNDRAISER?

Since its establishment in 2008, Sporting Ennistymon Football Club has seen hundreds of local players pass through its doors. The club offers a sporting and social outlet to young and older adults from the North and West Clare areas. Based in Ennistymon, Sporting draws members from Ennistymon, Lahinch, Doolin, Lisdoonvarna, Kilfenora, Miltown and Quilty. Providing the people of the North and West Clare regions with an opportunity to play the beautiful game do come with various costs.

Examples of expenditure include:

  • Pitch rental
  • Training facility rental
  • Insurance payments
  • Registration of players with leagues
  • Purchasing of necessary equipment, i.e. Footballs, Cones, Bibs etc.
  • Referee fees

By entering this fundraiser, you are contributing to a not-for-profit group whose goal is to give the gift of the “beautiful game” to the people of North and West Clare.

Entering the fundraiser helps the club prosper and may benefit you. Unlike other lotto’s, each Split the Pot draw has a guaranteed winner, giving you an even better chance of taking home half of the collection. But be warned, as they say, if you’re not in, you can’t win.
